And then the snakes showed up.
Which is ... interesting? None of the xenobotany or biology materials he's been reading for Jeneviere has mentioned snakes as native to Zhautas. At least not ones that look like this. And the closer Matt comes to one of them, the more he gets a faint, pricking sense that something's not quite right.
On a hunch, he opens up his awareness--the magical one, the whatever-it-is that counts as either third eye or sixth sense.
And that's interesting.
A moment later, a small orb of glowing golden light appears over Matt's hand. ]

[ Reading auras and detecting magical signatures is not Matt's forte. But that's why it's nice to practice! After a few tries, his bauble of light is bopping off, weaving around panicking/annoyed/occasionally still obliviously sleeping people, and Matt scrambles to follow.
