Are the students, when they flee to safety instead of fighting, acting cowardly or shirking their duty? No. They're still students, still in training, and so can't fight. This sickness, whatever it is, is just another villain. And though we went, the students shouldn't have taken that as a go-ahead for them to sign up as well.
