It still takes Derek by such surprise how open people are about sex here. He lived in Manhattan for years, so it's not as if people being open and in your face with it, but this place takes it to a whole new level.

He's a little concerned about the man's reaction to Derek's bombshell, but he obviously didn't need to be. His open curiosity warms Derek, and he lets out a relieved breath as he smiles.

"Derek," he replies, putting his own seedlings away so he can take Barry's hand. The touch lingers for a moment, and he has to tell himself to pull his hand back. "No, really. It's okay. Usually people try to kill me when they find out, so your questions are a welcome change."

He smiles ruefully and feels his ears twitch excitedly. "I don't become a wolf, no. I don't lose control either. Everything just gets very... intense."

People mill past them, gazes lingering openly on Barry's pale chest, and Derek's tail flickers behind him. "Now that you know my secret, maybe you can tell me how you're so fast."
