Barry's frown deepens, all the moreso when Derek's brief explanation ends and he heads right out the door. Barry leaves his change - two useless bronze seedlings - and exits the store, almost startling when he sees Derek isn't gone but waiting for him.
"Hey," he says, almost touching Derek's shoulder but thinking better of it. "We don't have to talk about it if you don't want." Barry's terribly curious, but they don't know each other, and it's obviously hard for Derek. "Do you want to get that drink?" he asks, trying to brighten the mood.
