Derek follows after Barry easily, boots crunching on fallen leaves as he cradles his hot chocolate carefully to his chest. The mention of the lantern ceremony as Derek looking over almost longingly.

"I would have liked to have been a part of that," he admits with a wistful smile. They walk through a plume of the bobbing little lights and one of them sways in close to Derek, practically gliding along his cheek before floating away. He lets out another breath, feeling more relaxed than he has in a really, really long time.

"It is a lot," he says, taking a seat on the rock and looking over at Barry with a warm smile. "You'll have to show me how to actually get here."
