Barry doesn't want to say he knows Derek better than he knows himself. But he can't see how that would be possible, how Derek will just be fine, how he'll handle it. He doesn't see how anyone could be fine here when their feelings about sex are tangled inextricably with the unimaginable horrors visited on Derek's family.

Someone he'd trusted had taken advantage of him, used him, raped him - a person's first time should be good, not forever associated with guilt and pain.
