"Mm. Sounds nice. I never had pets," he says, lifting an arm again, using his hand to find angles and shapes among the stars. "Or, well--we'd had a dog, once, when I was a kid--technically, it was my brother's dog, this great galloping oaf of a retriever named Goldie--but I'm never home enough for anything, these days. Or wasn't. Suppose I'm still not, right?" He sighs, and the sound turns into a faint chuckle.

"Christ. I swear I'm more fun than this, usually. Not nearly so depressing, especially after a few drinks. Your cat thing sounds nice, though. It's better watching the sky when you aren't doing it alone." And when you don't know the monsters that lurk behind it, too, probably.
