TEST DRIVE MEME #9 (FOURTH WALL EDITION)

Introduction

The same siren that had sounded a couple weeks prior to signify the arrival of the portals that ripped through the island fills the air again. While Zenith had seemed to have taken care of these strange space-time anomalies, it appears that they didn't quite contain them all.

"Hello again, volunteers," R.Y.U.O. addresses the public again, thoroughly unimpressed. "It seems we have a second breach to be concerned about. Just as before: mind the edges and you should be fine." He doesn't say much more than that but anyone looking out the nearest window will see what he's referring to.

No matter where volunteers are, the giant triangular portal (approximately 1.75 miles tall and 1 mile wide) that suddenly splits reality off in the jungle faces them. No matter where they walk or what other angles they try to see it from, it faces them. That's only slightly unnerving.

It doesn't take long before the multiversal visitors start to pour through. While current volunteers can't leave, it seems that other people are able to come in through this portal that has converged from multiple access points in the multiverse on this tiny island. Say hello, volunteers, there are quite a few new unexpected faces to greet!

WELCOME TO ZHAUTAS

Professor Quintalian - who the newly displaced might have been informed already is the head of the volunteer program here on Zhautas - is quick to turn this potential PR nightmare into a daydream. People may be spilling through the portal and bringing forth any number of issues without the proper clearance but that's not their fault.

And it isn't Zenith's either, they're quick to say. It's actually because of a deranged space pirate named Hoshiko - here, have a picture for reference! - and you can blame her for your displacement in the multiverse. Please do. Of course, if anyone questions how one person is causing all this trouble Zenith representatives will be quick to say they need to go back to whatever task they had at hand and drop the topic.

Basically, it's not your fault and it's not their fault but you're still here now. So, why not be made to feel at home during your temporary stay? The professor is of the mind that showing these newcomers some good old-fashioned Zenith Corporation hospitality would be more beneficial in the long-term than trying to turn them all away immediately. You can't buy publicity like this! He wouldn't be in charge if he didn't know how to turn things to his corporation's advantage.

TEMPORARY LODGING

It's for this reason that the professor makes the call for the west wing, usually utilized primarily for research, to be turned into temporary lodging for their company. While the makeshift cots laid out aren't as private as the pods of the east wing or bungalows out on the beach, that's alright! It's still a nice, comfortable place to sleep until they figure the best way to get you back home.

They even got everyone who shows up a complementary gift basket. It's filled with cliche "aphrodisiac" foods such as chocolate, strawberries, but thankfully no oysters. They do have those if you're interested, of course, but you'd have to go to the food court for that request. The basket also contains lube (of random, assorted flavors and added effects!) as well as a cheap, plastic bullet vibrator that has the Zenith logo printed on it.

Unfortunately, due to the quality, it's a little finicky. Once you turn it on, you might not be able to turn it off. Don't worry! There's plenty of people around to help. Plenty of people to witness you fumbling with this bouncing, buzzing object and certainly plenty of embarrassment to be had by all. What a good bonding opportunity!

SEXATORIUM

Whatever research that was going on before people started arriving has been suspended for now. One wouldn't know though from how quickly the changed everything around from perhaps what veteran volunteers are used to. One minute there's regular, mundane scribbling onto clipboards and contemplative hums and nods. The next, there's sex on display in no shortage of ways.

The lab spaces have instead been converted to serve a different purpose. The lights are dimmed and tinted a hopefully soothing blue, music plays lightly, and there's the strong scent of sweat and salt permeating the place. The west wing has, for now, been converted into a sexatorium to showcase Zenith's finest attempts at curing this disease and enticing fresh faces to join their cause.

Volunteers and newcomers alike are welcome to peruse this section of the facility until everything gets sorted. Whether it be to watch or demonstrate themselves, Zenith staff is encouraging everyone to take part. They might be a little overly encouraging, honestly. It probably isn't surprising they're under quite a bit of pressure these days from HQ. Show all the multiversal visitors a good time the Zenith way, volunteers!



The glass walls of the research sector have become an exhibitionists' dream. Or perhaps a voyeur's, depending on perspective! Maybe you're taking time to walk through or scurrying to the other side and averting your eyes. If anyone was looking for the head of the program, they can find him here. Of course they can. If you're not into tentacles, that's your loss (according to him), but he's more than happy to talk about the program as well!

They also have plenty of other "experiments" that they'll be running that anyone is free to participate in. They are, but not limited to:

• Sex Toy Demonstrations - Ever wondered what state of the art sexual technology is like? Check it out for yourself! If you want it, they likely have it. Not to worry if you don't exactly want to have everything on display, there are rooms that are more private with a black-out option on the glass. It can be toggled on and off or opacity may be changed and filters applied for those who might want the thrill of potentially being seen but not entirely.

• Natural Aphrodisiacs - Stepping into one of these rooms will be like taking a step outside. They're full to the brim with plants both familiar and alien as a taste of the larger gardens that Zenith touts. Of note are the coitendrils; they're a pretty touchy-feely species! It's a plant that thrives in warm conditions and grows at an incredibly fast rate to seek out these cozy spots. As it turns out, your body warmth is the highest temperature around and exactly what it's looking for.
• Strip Trivia - How much do you know about sex? Maybe less than you think! Especially when you start throwing xenobiology into the mix. These rooms are staged like a game show (that outsiders can also view, if you so choose!) and with each wrong answer, you'll find yourself losing a piece of clothing. It could be as minor as a sock, your bracelet, or something as obvious as your entire shirt. Don't worry, your clothes are held in a containment unit just outside the room and it's all in good fun!
• Cultural Exchange - It's no secret that many of the cultures and species on Zhautas are sex-positive. Most recently, volunteers visited the country of Nevrione whose specialty is leather BDSM gear with amazing hand craftsmanship. While there don't appear to be any natives to that country (which people are free to find suspicious) there is a sampling of what they have to offer for use. Also, just look at those cute feathers decorating some of the gear... What a nice touch!

AROUND THE FACILITY

• The Gym
  There is now a large gym after frequent volunteer requests for one. They've dedicated a lot more room recently to get a good work-out in. One of the best ways to relieve stress is exercise! Not that volunteers have any particular reason to be stressed. Everything is perfectly fine. It has a plethora of machines now rather than just a handful. In fact, it even features a rock wall, pool, and track now to suit almost every need imaginable.
  
  A couple of the machines have an emphasis on vibrations. Not to worry, however, as there are plenty more options available that they're easily avoidable.
  
  If the gym pool isn't your speed, you're always welcome to go for a nice swim out at the beach. The local mermaids have since returned back to their home waters, so there's no immediate threat to your well-being. At least, not anything obvious. Let them know if you find anything!
  
  
• The Holo-Deck
  The holo-deck is now up and fully operational. It's the size of a small gymnasium and quite sturdy! Don't worry if you do break anything, they'll fix it in a jiffy! They like to see the limits of their technology tested, after all.
  
  The holo-deck can simulate basically anything your mind can come up with... if you have an implant. So, better make friends with someone who does if you want to experience this feature! Its main function is a relaxation mode that projects soothing landscapes and scenery. They look, smell, and sound so real you almost wouldn't believe that you aren't hiking through the mountains. And despite its limited size, the holo-deck does manipulate perception to make the space seem a lot larger than it really is.
  
  Additionally, it has a combat mode to help keep the senses sharp of volunteers who might be more battle-inclined. They don't want you to lose your edge, after all, and especially not with Hoshiko still at large with no idea when she'll strike next. It's better to be prepared and it also gives the more restless volunteers a good way to work out all that excess energy.
  
  
• Arcade
  Attached to the holo-deck, there's another large room. This one is dimly lit and comes with the archaic colors and sounds that belong to a retro arcade. While the holo-deck can simulate games, there's nothing quite like the feeling of pinball beneath your fingers. Or maybe you just want to whack some moles in order to vent your frustration.
  
  While you can win tickets here, they can't be exchanged for anything but minor trinkets. Most of the prizes to be gathered are sexual in nature (because of course, they are) like boxes of condoms or fancy flavored lubes. There's also the standard plush toys and inflatable contraptions.
  
  
• Food Court & Vending Machines
  This is a pristine, updated section of the facility that serves only the finest of meals thanks to the new cyborg chef in charge. He's a friendly older guy who uses his mechanical enhancements to make food faster than you can blink and, of course, it tastes incredible to boot.
  
  Additionally, the vending area has been expanded and the machines have been fixed to no longer shoot out drinks at supersonic speeds. Of course, they still can if you so wish. Some people seemed to have fun making a game out of it so the feature is an option but only if someone selects it from the menu.



• The Beach
  The bungalows for more permanent residents of Zhautas are lined up along the island's south shore. It's only a short walk from the main facility, no more than five or ten minutes. If you'd rather stay out here instead of using the temporary lodging, that's also an option! They have tents available for use. Don't mind the way you may feel -- no, will feel more inclined to snuggle up - or more - with someone. That's just a standard 'light aphro' feature added to help prompt new volunteers to ease into the atmosphere of the facility.
  
  At night, the beach lights up in beautiful blue luminescence where sand meets sea. Unfamiliar stars and constellations dot the sky as far as the eye can see. It's really rather peaceful. Well, it is if you ignore the giant foreboding portal off in the distance.



• The Lounge
  This is a begrudingly new addition to the main Zenith research facility, volunteers may have noticed supplies being gathered over the last week or heard whispers of the activity before the building popped up seemingly overnight near the outskirts of the jungle. While approved by the head of the program, it certainly doesn't look like anything that Zenith had a hand in constructing. (They didn't.) It sticks out from the sleek, smooth chrome surfaces by seemingly pulling together more natural elements reminiscent of the buildings in Nevrione, built from mostly wood with a stone foundation. The furniture inside is also crafted from wood, leather, and so on to create a... unique atmosphere full of tables, benches, a bar and stools. In fact, some of the decor seems to be decorated and reinforced with dragon scales.
  
  While alcohol is served here, that's only if someone brings something that can be converted into alcohol via alchemy by resident volunteer Edward Elric. The lounge is advertised as being a place to hang out and get a break from the more modern and high tech setting that the facility has to offer, it is requested that sex does not happen within these walls.
  
  While it touts a calm, unassuming front, with entertainment available such as darts, a pool table, card games and other typical bar games, it's quickly becoming an escape from Zenith's prying eyes and ever alert ears. This might be the place to go if you want to speak a little more freely about your suspicions regarding Zenith.
  
  For volunteers that offer to help with construction or around the lounge once it's built - keeping order among others, cleaning, gathering supplies or various other tasks around the building - drinks will be free (unless another agreement is arranged) as means of payment for their time.

THE UNDERBELLY

For as much as Zenith is pulling out all the stops, there's no denying that there is a faint sense of unrest teeming beneath the surface. While some veteran volunteers are friendly, there is still an undeniable undercurrent of dissatisfaction that Zenith can't quite completely overshadow. For all the fanfare and attentiveness of the staff, it probably won't be long before you run into at least a few people who aren't exactly shy about their dislike of the corporation.

Things that one might overhear and want to investigate are as follows:

1. Out in the jungle at night, you might have noticed- No, not the portal, everyone's noticed that. There are red eyes that light up the jungle at night. While they aren't exactly menacing, they are extremely unnerving. Ask anyone and they'll tell you those are demons and they're a product of Professor Quintalian's "personal research" apparently approved by Zenith. While they aren't actively aggressive, trying to infringe on their territory is ill-advised.
   
   Being demon-touched is a terrible thing to experience. They're formless, tarry parasitic creatures that try to consume someone. There's even apparently a chance that you might turn into one. Being demon-touched comes with a host of negative side effects such as visual and auditory hallucinations, a desire to be "complete," fever, and more. And unfortunately for you, the process to expel any demon essence from the body is just as terrible.
   
   Unfortunately, demons aren't the only concern you'll have if you traverse the jungle. This tiny island hosts a range of creatures both docile and deadly. It also seems like with the portal opening, even more are making their way and finding a space here at the Zenith Research Facility.
   
   
2. Despite initially volunteering, people's requests to leave are met with vague excuses as to why it isn't possible immediately. But then the professor will turn around and say Zenith sent someone home overnight without a word to anyone. While this appears to be highly suspicious, none of the staff seem to want to expound upon how Zenith operates with regards to terminating volunteer participation and, of course, Quintalian is nowhere to be found for any real serious discussion. Call him though! He'll be glad to talk to you over dinner and a nice bottle of wine.
   
   Maybe talk to a resident volunteer about this since it should be worrying to someone who might want to sign-up.


3. Despite the way that the helperbot R.O.S.I.E. is described to watch the facility at all times, she's known to get distracted or glitch out from time to time. And with her trying to entertain all these new guests where she can as well as Zenith re-routing efforts to the sexatorium, there's a distinct lack of physical security present. Huh.
   
   Recently, there's been a lot of thumping and bumping up in the ventilation shafts throughout the main facility. If you're foolhardy enough to find the cause, you'll actually be met with one of the resident defensive AIs that goes by the name R.Y.U.O. He's glad you're here, actually. Things were starting to get boring. If you wander too far through the vents into a restricted area (since the barriers in place won't stop those without an implant!), he'll be quick to throw something else to deter your exploration.
   
   This might electric shocks, extreme heat, of even the classic of a swarm of spiders. It's nothing personal, of course, he just has a job to make sure people trying to snoop don't get too far.

There's suddenly a thunk against the clear surface of a glass wall as a naked man is shoved harshly against it from inside the room. One arm is raised, hand pressed against the glass with fingers splayed, and face flush with pleasure. A deep purple tentacle - suction cups and all - is wrapped tightly around his waist, another stuck to his wrist against the wall, a third penetrating the space between his trembling legs, and a fourth secured tightly around his cock.

Quintalian appears in a flash of teeth sinking into the man's shoulder from behind. The way he cries out in response and moans after fogs up the glass. The professor runs his tongue along the man's skin before his eyes flit up to catch the gaze of whoever might be watching with a cheeky grin. He's more than happy to take up anyone that he interests for a good time in this lab space. After all, he isn't shy about being one of Zenith's finest in the least.

If you find you just would like to talk to him after he's, ahem, finished with his research... That's also fine! Even he needs a break sometimes. He also has to do some actual work around the facility now and again. He's hard to miss with all his extra appendages and commanding presence besides. Go ahead and say hi! He doesn't bite.

Eggys jumped when he heard the thunk, having been concerned with another room across the way. He turned swiftly, his eyes going wide and his mouth opening into a tiny 'o' at the sight. That was... well, it was straight outta some weird porno is what it was, but it was... well, okay it was hot. Weird, but hot. Maybe it was the way the man was panting against the glass, so obviously thrilled with what was happening, or the flash of those teeth, that little thrill of danger.

He stepped more towards the glass, looking up towards that cheeky smile and raised his own brows. Well? You gonna give him a show, mate?

ARRIVAL & TEMPORARY LODGING:

Ed has no reason to be anywhere near the temporary lodging that Zenith set up for those new arrivals brought in by the portal, but that doesn't stop him from checking it out. Knowing his luck with this exact situation, it wouldn't surprise him to see at least one familiar face show up and he wasn't about to leave them to the subpar accommodations this facility rushed together last minute every time anyone new arrived at the island, if he could help it.

Of course, he doesn't expect this to last a full two weeks, Zenith was usually pretty good at solving these issues anywhere from within a week to just an overnight, and he can't really help everyone that he sees the same as the last considering his limited resources.

He'll stop anyone that appears lost - regardless of where he finds them - to offer assistance if they need it, "Just show up?"

FACILITY:

Around the research building Ed can be found just about anywhere except the holo-deck, during the time before the portal is fixed. He frequents the gym to work out, anything from weight training to climbing the rock wall, and rinsing off in the showers after (which might be a little odd to come across, since he does it fully clothed before returning to his bungalow to clean up and change.)

The arcade and food court aren't really his thing, he has his own food and isn't too inclined to play modern video games but he may be found wandering those areas just to scope out the new arrivals and keep an eye on things. Of course, after some time passes, he might also be there to request something to stock the lounge with for other volunteers to enjoy.

If anyone's looking for someone that's practically visibly suspicious of Zenith, they've found them in Edward Elric, that was for sure.

In the hall that keeps the new and improved selection of vending machines, featuring sex toys, lingerie and any number of drinks and snacks he might turn to someone with a warning, "Careful, they claim the things are fixed but I wouldn't trust it."

THE BEACH: (pokemon optional)

Living on the beach in one of the bungalows, it wasn't uncommon for him to be out there. He can't swim so he doesn't really go near the water, he doesn't actually have a death wish despite how much he might act to the contrary.

While around the beach, Ed will likely be in the company of a milotic, the serpent keeping close no matter where they are. Unless she's swimming in the moat or the ocean nearby.

Later in the evening, when the sun sets on any random night Ed might instead be found sitting out on the sand, perhaps leaning against the giant snake with a vulpix curled up nearby if it isn't in a tussle with an eevee. Maybe you caught him lighting the fire, did that flame come out of his mouth? Yes, yes it did.

(POKEMON ARE COMPLETELY OPTIONAL AND OPT-IN, please ignore them if you'd rather, that's fine! There's also a ponyta if anyone would like to interact with that, I only mentioned the ones that were requested.)


THE LOUNGE:

Ed will, of course, be at the lounge whenever it's open - unless someone takes over for him - considering he runs the thing. It's not the most efficiently stocked bar so there's plenty of downtime for him to spend out on the floor. Although he doesn't touch the cards, darts and pool are fair game and he'll participate just as much as the next person.

As time passes he does build a bit of an inventory, ingredients for drinks and simple meals or snacks. Alcohol will still need to be transmuted no matter what unless someone brings their own from Zenith's allowance, everything is available in exchange for trade, favors or work at the lounge. Volunteers are free to bargain with their own ideas or just bring enough for themselves so it doesn't cut into his supply, he's flexible really.

Depending on the atmosphere at the time one might catch him making drinks or cleaning up with a clap and flash of blue light, watchful of his surroundings but otherwise friendly and open to conversation, asking around, "Can I get you anything?" He didn't put all this work into the place to not socialize with the people here, the point was to hopefully gather intel and get people working together.

Maybe instead he's relaxing by the bar or leaning against the Milotic that seemed to be a regular presence since the portal opened.

Or

It's entirely possible to be there when someone (or be that someone) is doing something they shouldn't. Which is quickly remedied with shouting and possibly threats of violence. "Yeah, well you can leave if you don't like it! AND DON'T COME BACK!"

Although he'll try not to physically attack anyone - keeping off of Quin's radar was near impossible already - a fight isn't entirely out of the question either, if the right buttons were pushed.

[ Laica's wearing a very close-fitting, short dress she's been told is a "cocktail dress" which is apparently what one wears to drink cocktails. It is certainly flattering. She hasn't had a chance to talk to Ed for some time and apparently this is why, and she's curious.

And maybe due to the no-sex rules of the place they'll actually talk for once. She saunters over to where he's observing the room from his seat at the bar and leans against it in a way that highlights how long her legs are. ]

So. What's a girl got to do to get a drink around here, hm?

[Zelos Wilder has been accused of being many things during his life, but responsible was never one of them. One moment he's in his luxurious bedroom, and the next he's on this strange island with a vibrator and a basket of lube being handed to him.]

[No matter how long he searches, he can't find anyone he knows. Instead, he goes up to a stranger, basket of lube still in hand.]

[In the Woods]

[Zelos Wilder was never much one for sleep, and the openness of their sleeping situation made him uncomfortable. It's not long into the night before he slips out of his makeshift bed and makes for the forest, avoiding anyone he comes in contact with.]

[At least, until he sees a pair of red eyes. He might be new here, but he's pretty sure that isn't supposed to happen.]

[He turns and leaves the forest as fast as he can, but the dense trees make it difficult to navigate. Hopefully, a more experienced volunteer will find him and help him before things take a turn for the worse.]

[Talking with the Residents]

[Zelos might play at being obtuse, but he isn't, not really. He's navigated politics long enough to know when people are unhappy, and he's yet to see a resident that genuinely looks bad to be here.]

["Volunteers." There's definitely more to that line than Zenith is letting on, and if Zelos is going to consider staying, he's going to find out what it is. Zelos doesn't trust anyone, but Zenith comes off as particularly shady.]

[As soon as he feels it's safe, he finds one of the more permanent volunteers, and tries to strike a conversation.]

So, what's the deal here? There's no way this place is as great as Zenith is making it out to be.

Talking with the Residents

[It wouldn't be too long before some of the new arrivals grew suspicious, there was definitely more of tension here now than there had been when Ed first arrived. Some people wanted to play it safe and believe what Zenith told them because it was easier than admitting the truth - others honestly saw no reason to be concerned, which was a frightening thought on its own - but more and more suspicion grew. He was almost relieved to hear the question because that meant he was right.

When he overhears the question, sees the volunteer Zelos is trying to talk to brush him off completely, Ed makes his way towards him. If someone's going around asking, he's not going to let an opportunity like that slide, every other time he opens his mouth about things here, it was a gamble.]

It's not, but not everyone wants to admit it.

i. Biological Imperatives

[ It's not like Guerin is afraid of a little sexuality. If anything, it's his second favorite coping mechanism right after alcohol, but this place is taking it to all new levels. When he steps into the west wing, it reeks of a recent fuck and he shakes his head, wandering inside to try and figure out what's going on.

He's figured out he's not on earth anymore, but he didn't finish repairing the ship and he definitely didn't choose to come here, though Texas and coping with the world going out with a whimper or this?

Yeah, he'll take this, even if the smell is starting to make him depressed. He chooses the first door he sees, heading right into a lush environment and plants that seem to be striving towards him, like seeking him out. ]

What, you like my aftershave that much?

[ Apparently, here, even plants are after him. For his broken-down ego, that's not such a bad thing to see. It does start to get weird when the plants start to thread up his ankle, leaving him stuck in place. ]

Shit. Little help?

ii. Gaming Theory

[ It takes him a while to disentangle from his former situation, not lingering too long in the blue-lit area, but heading for anywhere else. Anywhere turns out to be an arcade that looks vaguely like something from his childhood -- a place he used to sneak into when the group home got too rough.

Grinning, Guerin wanders inside and heads to the whack-a-mole machine, hefting up the hammer. He'll use it, sure, but the best part of this is that he doesn't actually need it. While he doesn't need his powers to start the game, once the moles start a-popping, the hammer only does half the work.

Every other time, the hammer isn't needed for contact, but instead the steady focus of his mind, telekinesis slamming down the little furry heads with speed. He's still got enough acetone in his system that it won't make him sick, and the childish thrill makes him feel comfortable and safe.

So safe that he's not even paying attention to anyone who might be joining, or who might notice that he's not exactly playing the game fairly. At this rate, he won't even need to manipulate the tickets out. ]

2. The Lounge

[ Erik has never been much of a drinker, so losing his alcohol privileges hasn't bothered him very much. He's curious about Ed's project, so he goes. And sets up a poker table, because why not. He's very interested in the opportunity to speak freely, and so settles in for a long visit. When somebody joins him at the table, he shuffles his cards and gives them an expression that's actually a little more inviting than usual, the lines of his face not quite so hard, his eyes not quite so distrustful. ]

[Yotsuyu will make it a point to glare at everyone who enters the room. As soon as anyone tries to start a game, she'll start to sneer. And Halone help the first person who tries to approach her for conversation.]

[ Era hasn't thought of Yotsuyu in a few moons now, so preoccupied with other things. Even if she had thought of the woman, however, she never would have imagined her arriving here. Was their own universe not cruel enough to Yotsuyu as it was? Why must another force her into such cruel circumstances?

The lack of recognition from her former enemy isn't exactly a shock to her, though the demeanor she holds while lacking it is startling. Logically Era knows there are multiple versions of her own world — at least six — but that doesn't make it any less difficult to truly absorb. ]

[ It’s certainly a weird place. Not like Kirkwall or Skyhold, definitely not like Haven. But there’s the sort of creature comforta you expect, here and there. Distractions. That’s... probably not for the best, in my experience. Distraction has a tendency to mean compliance, and I’ve never been very good at compliant.

So, sure. I absolutely check over everything at least once. But there’s something to be said for a little suspicion about everything. Especially the easy accessibility of food and drinks, and the ambiance of romance that seems to infuse just about everything. I haven’t tried my hand at romance novels for nothing.

At least the beach is sort of nice. No rain on the horizon. Not sure what to make of that. ]

i. Dead? Or Not Too Dead?

He's alive again. He's alive again?

Staring at his stomach, he sneaks his way into the holo-deck, which doesn't have anyone in it and since he has no implant, it's the exact empty space he needs for this.

He takes in a few deep breaths to prepare himself. It's been years since he did this while alive and he doesn't count the music hall with Klaus. He closes his eyes and tries to focus on encouraging words from Luther, from Dad. He does everything he can not to think about what happens after, those sickened looks everyone always got after he did his thing.

"I am so sorry," he murmurs and balls his nails into his fists, allowing the shift in dimensions within his own skin, tentacles coming out in complete and utter lack of control, to the point that Ben's screams and shouts are definitely not going to be contained by the walls.

Okay, they're there. Great. "Enough!" he shouts, trying desperately to get them back under control, which isn't going so well right now. "Shit," he says. "Come on, that's enough!"

The accommodations were sparse, but that didn't trouble Spock. He had long ago grown accustomed to close quarters, and as he had less need for sleep than many species, he did not expect that he would be on this cot much at all.

Of course, they were meant to do more than sleep in the beds here. Spock did not long for this portion of the mission, but like the cots, it did not trouble him. He came here to save the universe - a situation that was becoming troublingly frequent. How he safeguarded the lives of those he cared for did not matter, only the result.

And, though Spock would not admit it to most, he had come here for sentiment.

It was not logical, but to deny his feelings was equally illogical, and so Spock allowed himself to experience them.

Here, on a little cot, with a welcome basket in his lap. It was buzzing and would not cease, and Spock gazed blandly at the little plastic device within as it vibrated wildly against the other contents.

  [This was something that intrigued him. The humans of his world hadn't quite gotten around to being this advanced in their technology yet, and the notion that somewhere out there in the great wide expanse of the universe, Dad had made a species that had surpassed what had once been His favorite. Lucifer could be found in all the varieties of modes the 'deck had to offer. He'd even try out the combat mode, wistfully thinking of his right hand demon.]

  [Beaches. He loved them all. Crossing points, they were. Places where one thing met another. Land and sea, earth and air. IV: The Underbelly

[Strange as this place may be, Lucifer had been curious about the mention of 'demons' and being 'demon touched'. He'd found himself a place within the 'safe' boundaries of the Facility near the beach, looking over at the black, tarry bodies that had milled around once night had fallen. He felt no fear from them, but then, he was The Devil. Whatever they might be, they weren't something he found himself concerned with. A pair of red, glowing eyes peered his way and he snorted a laugh.]

Those are not demons. Well, not real ones, anyway.

[If anyone would be able to feel something with the presence of Lilith in it, it would be him. He casually sipped at whatever drink he had in hand and watched them.]

He had come here by accident more than agreement, but he had the feeling that whoever ran this place was not going to waste this surprise opportunity. He walked the halls, and would have felt more perverted if he hadn't known this place had been created just for the purpose of watching. And there was much to see, some he had never seen before. Some he had done before. Others not. It was... intriguing and arousing to say the least, but that was the point, wasn't it? Now and then he would stop to consider certain tableaus, like considering a painting in a museum and doing his best to control the heat in his groin because of it.

At one point he somehow finds himself drawn into the trivia game. Which - okay, it's fun. He can't help but smile and throw himself full into the game, even if some of the questions are so outlandish that he knows he has no chance of probably winning. But that's not the point is it? Each time he misses a question he makes a show of discarding his clothing - a strip tease if you will, and he makes damn sure to try and catch the "audiences'" eye while he does it, maybe even tosses a bit of clothing their way too. Just wait til he gets to his underwear...

Accidents go both ways though. He honestly had thought he'd headed outside when he had pushed through the door, even if he hadn't thought that the building had been that close to the jungles he had seen beyond. But spaces were deceiving, no? Hot and deceiving, as it was. The kind of hot that made his skin prickle and his hips throb and his mind pulse with the hazy fog he knew to be arousal and need.

It was probably why he didn't really notice the window or the display he was putting on for others - either didn't know or didn't care. Half dressed, pants discarded in order to free his erection, on his knees and thrusting back and forth, practically rutting. Not into someone though. Plants - it was the plants. He certainly wasn't afraid to show off his body in those tiny shorts and the tattoo the adorned his left ribcage. He's happy enough to sun himself for a time, usually with a book in hand for reading because lying still and doing nothing had never been his style. Mostly he can be found out in the water, wading through the shallow or further out ducking and diving among the waves.

And if you catch it at just the right moment, he'll be heading back to shore, slicking his hair back, like a scene out of a movie with the water glittering behind him and eyes blue enough to match. Did he just wink at you? Probably. Smiled too.

The Enterprise had games of this sort was entertainment for the crew - because Star Fleet recognized that some recreation was necessary to keep its officers from going completely insane in space. He takes to one of the old arcade blasters at first, laughing as horribly designed aliens popped up for blasting. When he tired of that, he went to pinball and skiball, wondering if he achieved that sort of nerdy badboy look in his jeans and white shirt with his Star Fleet issue jacket over it all.

[The Methuselah was not amused at walking out of court and finding herself in a strange facility. She looked ready to tear someone's head off, most likely that of a certain priest if she ran into him. She turned her nose up at the cots, but understood that this was a strange situation. It was apparent that whoever ran this place didn't expect this to happen either. She sat on the edge of the cot, long legs taking up quite a bit of room in front of her and looked over the basket.]

Nighttime Explorations

[Once the sun had set, Asthe headed out to explore a bit more of the island. Being unable to move around outside during the day was rather annoying, but she was used to it. It wasn't the first time that she could only travel at night. She was more annoyed that she was unarmed than the fact that she had to wait until sundown before going out.

She did her best to stay out of the jungle. She could probably outrun a lot of the things there, but she had no clue exactly what she might run into and she decided to be cautious.

She ended up at the beach, looking out at the water. It was an interesting sight. A tall, pale skinned woman with white hair just standing at the edge of the water under the moonlight.]

NOTE: Just wanted to let it be known that Ed is 16 in case it's important to anyone. Please nothing beyond kissing or touching above the waist.

While he couldn't say he was used to it, Edward wasn't a stranger to hopping to different dimensions. The first time was technically when he, Ling, and Envy had been swallowed by Gluttony. During his attempt to break them out of that hell, he had somehow wound up in Riverview. He didn't particularly like being in either of those places, but in both cases he had been able to either figure out a solution to get himself out of it or adapt.

He was absolutely unequipped to do the same for Zhautas.

At first, it didn't seem too bad. Ed got that he was in yet some other world or universe or whatever and was shown to room in the west wing. The red gift basket popped out, so of course he investigated it. Being the naive teenager he was with absolutely no experience in romance or dating let alone sex, he was very confused by it and didn't realize what it all was until he read the label on one of the lube bottles.

NOPE.

That was more than enough to signal to him that he did NOT want to be here and he left his room. Where was he going? He had no idea, but he wasn't going to stay there if his life depended on it.

I. Sexatorium

Oh dear God no.

He instantly regretted his decision to rush out of his room without thinking of where he was going. He had entered, stopped dead in his tracks at what was playing out before his eyes, and immediately turned 180 degrees to leave the way he came with his face as red as a tomato, but the crowd behind him made it a bit difficult and in his flustered state, it was very easy for him to bump into someone. It would also be easy to take advantage of him and grab his wrist to pull him back inside.

II. Beach
Outside was much better. Not only were there no blatant acts of sex being shoved in his face, but there was open space for him to run.

So he did.

The sandy beach made it more difficult to run, but he zipped on by all the same until he was out of breath. He fell back and laid on his back in the sand while he tried to catch his breath, unaware of the effects of the area. The sounds of the beach, the surf hitting the shore, the squawking seagulls, and the salty wind blowing through all helped to calm him down and let him think. Even after he started breathing normally, he continued to just lay there with his eyes closed, at least, until someone approached him.

III. Lounge
This was more like it. The style and decor of the building was not only much more familiar to Ed, but it was also a sex-free zone. He didn't care who was inside, he was going to go in, and he was going to stay, at the very least until he collected himself enough to try to do something about his situation.

After walking around to get a better idea about the place, he can found deep in thought and oblivious to everyone, in a soft leather chair.

When he opened his eyes he'd find her standing over him, waiting silently to be noticed, there was no need to rush things after all, as long as they were here.

[There's surprise that registers in Chas's voice the minute he lies eyes on John Constantine, all geared up and ready to fight the creepy, glowing eyes in the dark. It's almost a welcome sight, familiar in a way that's comforting after stepping into this madhouse.

The impending danger can wait for a minute, right? Just a minute.]

It wasn't the first time that Kavinsky had seen or been through one of these portals. Weird shit happened all the time in Darrow, and he was just glad that a soft, sweet-eyed, guitar-playing version of himself hadn't stepped through into Darrow like had happened a couple years back. No: instead he steps through, and finds himself on some Cabo-like beach, bright-warm air pressing on his skin, a light breeze, the noise of the sea. There were bungalows all along the beach. There were ridiculously attractive men on the beach.

Kavinsky was a married man these days, but he was pretty sure Newt would forgive him for anything and everything in this situation. Assuming he told him about it. In all likelihood, he wasn't going to. Play it off as one of his more pleasant dreams.

And what a dream it was. Kavinsky took a deep breath of the salty air and grinned, shark-like but lazy. He could feel the bubble of the sharp, awful boy he'd been for years, had been until a few years ago. Oh, he was going to enjoy this.

Someone passed by. That grin went all kinds of predatory.


ii. temporary housing
Kavinsky slept, and dreamed.

The facility wasn't his favorite place in the world, because it reminded him a little bit of a hospital, or like the old Soviet buildings in Bulgaria, and neither of those were great places when it got right down to it. There was something in this place. And for that reason, he dreamed. The glorious thing about it was that the dream place was still there, as bright and vibrant and green as it ever was. A little twisted though. This was a version of the dream place that was influenced by some other forces than the one in Darrow, or the one back in Henrietta. It had been a long time since he'd felt a new version of the place--since the demon, and the recreation of the forest.

He dreamed. He plucked good things from his dreams--things he could take, things he could give people, things he could trade. He didn't doubt that this was a terrible idea. Indeed, he was probably approaching it too rashly. But that was the nature of the beast sometimes. If he was going to be here (and he didn't know how long he was going to be here), he might as well make a good showing of it.

When he woke, there was a scattering of pill bottles around him. They were not orange, like most pill bottles, but red, or blue, or just clear. He knew what was in each of them instinctively.

He looked up to find someone standing over his cot. He leaned back on his elbows. "Like what you see?"

Kavinsky was a person that craved attention, and was more than happy to demonstrate just what he was capable of in order to get it. Back in Henrietta, it meant substance parties. In Darrow, he'd been a bit wild, he'd been a bit stupid. Here? Oh, here, he could do all the things he'd missed doing or could only do with his husband. And that was an awfully nice way to be.

[ sheltered is a nice way of putting loki's upbringing. but he was never sheltered from anything. frost giants have a singular outlook when it comes to their lives and all that ever matters to them is power and strength. luxuries of all kinds were considered pointless. loki spent most of his life in caves or drab castles, with little to do with gold and jewels. and as such, the accommodations were . . . lavish. even soft. he peruses the gift basket, sorting out the objects until he finds the lube. he holds it up curiously. ]

[ the sea. loki's never seen anything quite like it. everything here was so bright and warm. the warmth was still disorienting and uncomfortable, but loki managed to soldier on. after all, this is what he wanted. a way to experience life, to be free. tentatively, loki approaches the sea, dipping his toes into it before scuttling back. and then trying again. and again. a slow smile unfurls on his face. ]

[ By this point, the volunteers all know the dangers of the portals. The new arrivals don't. Laica runs toward the portal as soon as she realizes what's happening. She's a healer, a damned good one. And the less they have to deal with Zenith, the better. She approaches the first unfamiliar face she sees. ]

2. Sexatorium

[ It's hard to resist a place that seems specifically designed to appeal to one of Laica's strongest kinks. If there's one thing she loves, it's an audience. So she leaves the booth glass totally transparent and peruses the options. If nobody joins her inside, she'll start trying the sex toys. But if they are feeling similarly adventurous, there are also some fascinating restraints that have caught her eye. She points to them and addresses whoever is on the other side of the glass. ]

When he was stuck with his eyes closed after his mutation manifested and he didn't have the red glasses to control them, he could do very little but listen to music. It always has been comforting to him and he liked how nice it sounded when Laica played. ]

I'm not picky at all, I'd like to keep listening to more music from your home world. It's beautiful. [ Scott smiled at her and took a seat close to the blond woman. ] I can do a little singing but I don't know how to play anything myself.

I. temporary lodging;

Thor is rather used to feeling... displaced now, or perhaps merely 'out of place' is the best way to describe it. He heard talk of a pirate being responsible, but Thor isn't quite sure he entirely believes the tale, no more than he is certain that this mission of Zenith's is quite as noble as they insist.

However, he is here now for the foreseeable future and he had wished to see what accommodations he'd be given...

He hadn't expected a cot. Thor stares dubiously at the bed he was shown to, over the basket sat upon it full of all manner of sweets and other items.

"This is where we rest?" He asks no one in particular. He has seen worse, he's certain of that, and he doesn't require much rest all...

Thor is just uncertain about this arrangement. Perhaps he can find something else later.

II. sexatorium

A. While hardly the shy one, Thor had not come here by agreement but by accident... seeing the walls lined with displays left him feeling off balance, almost. There was interest here and there, puzzlement when he saw some alien act that he couldn't quite understand, but mostly Thor tries to pass through the halls quickly. He may have some interest, but it would feel wrong to watch these people in such an intimate act.

No less when he isn't certain that he is up for what's being asked of him. His thoughts are elsewhere still. He may not be entirely watching where he goes all the time, however. There are some acts that even catch him off guard enough to gape at.

B. Eventually, he finds himself into a room full of plants and almost relaxes. He breathes in a deep breath, not minding if the air smells a little sweet in here. It is better than the stench of sex that he just walked through, even if it doesn't quite leave him any more clearheaded.

Although a warning about the coitendril would be rather appreciated before he manages to stumble in here.

"This seems almost out of place..."

III. around the facility

A. The arcade is his first stop, more from curiosity than anything else. It's how it started off at least, but then, he discovered the whack-a-mole game and he fell into hopeless love with it. There was something oddly entrancing about hitting each face that popped up, and the mallet felt terribly right in his hand.

"I love this game!" He announces with a laugh.

Tickets don't seem overly important to him either, though they certainly are piling up at his feet.

B. Eventually, the merriment at the arcade begins to feel... frivolous. All of this does after all that he's seen back home, and that's when all the weight starts to settle back in. Grief and guilt knot his stomach, weigh heavy on his shoulders almost as much as the loss of...

Everything, more or less. They'd lost. They'd been defeated. It leaves a bitter taste in one's more, and it's one that he hopes he can drown out with a drink. He nurses one in his hand from the bar, unhappily accepting that it is nowhere near strong enough to do what he'd like. He misses the mead from Asgard...

Thor won't turn away company, and if caught lost in his own thoughts, will try to plaster a smile on his face.

IV. underbelly

It's a clear night and Thor will not be kept inside any longer, even under the threats of demons. He has faced Thanos himself and he will not be frightened off by glowing eyes in the dark. He steps out into the jungle, on guard but much more relaxed than he had been on his cot.

Perhaps he is looking for a fight anyway. What better way to ease his nerves, to release some of the building tension since his arrival?

"Do they only watch from the shadows? And I was told they were dangerous..."

He tries his best to keep his discussion of sex clinical and professional, even though he would gladly do his Zenith duties - well, the ones he would have if he was in the program, anyway - many times over with this man. But a bit of his nervousness and insecurity still slips out nonetheless.

As if merely being here wasn't anxiety inducing enough, considering his lack of experience and certain... physical appearance, but the fact that he was relatively sure he wouldn't even fit in any of the cots provided comfortably wasn't helping at all. Heaving a sigh, Luther meant to just push aside the gift basket as he took a seat on the edge of the makeshift bedding.

He didn't think that'd make anything start... buzzing.

Startled and embarrassed, Luther fumbles for the vibe in the basket and well... he does try to turn it off. It just won't. "What's going on with this thing?"

He looks helplessly around. Yeah, this is humiliating on a whole new level. He gives a helpless look around. "Can you turn this thing off?"

II. sexatorium

"Whoa-- uh..." He fumbles over his words almost as much as he stumbles though the halls of this place. It's like a bad porno no matter where he turns. People are doing things that he's never even dreamed of before. Heat flushes through him as he drops his eyes to the floor.

"They like to make it really obvious what we're here for, huh?"

Eventually, he makes his way to the sex toy demonstrations that he promptly tries to weasel out of, but that only lands him in the nature room. All is a little better there until he suddenly has coitendrils climbing invasively up his leg, making him swat at them in an attempt to get them off.

III. around the facility

Eventually, he makes his way to the normal areas of the facility... or more normal at least. He visits the food court to load up on food -- maybe eating more than most normal guys would. But hey, who hasn't at least tried to pack away ten burgers, right? Or maybe he'll share with anyone who looks interested.

When he has his fill there, he goes to check out the lounge. While he knows it's risky to keep overindulging in alcohol, one drink can't hurt right? Maybe it'll calm his nerves a bit, get his mind off the sex that seems plastered nearly everywhere. He needs a break. He needs to think about literally anything else.

He nurses a drink in a corner table, eyes idly scanning the lounge area.

"You play darts?" He might ask to anyone who seems open to talking. But honestly, he'll try out pool or a card game too. Just something that's somewhere in the vicinity of non-sexual for a bit.

Sylar felt there was something wrong the moment he arrived here. That something being the complete absence of a certain Italian Eagle Scout. Weren't they supposed to get out together? So where was Peter? And where was Sylar, for that matter?

The gift baskets did not give him very reassuring clues. HE decided to stay in the lodgings for a while. If Peter was anywhere in this place, he'd manage to find Sylar. That was the way it always worked with them.

And if someone else happened to approach him, Sylar could try out this "being a good guy" thing.

2. Arcade

Hopefully no one was planning on playing the crane game, because Sylar took it apart. It wasn't working properly and his ability wouldn't leave well enough alone. It wasn't quite as maddening as it used to be, but still enough that he couldn't resist dismantling the machine to get it working properly.

Nonetheless, he still decided to ask first, to make sure that he wouldn’t be reporting the strange man for something he didn’t actually do.

1. I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains.
He's not sure how he got here. One minute he was walking the streets of Liverpool and when he tripped over a heap of garbage that probably smelled better than he did, he ended up tumbling through and falling into a heap of-... sand? Looking around a bit, John dusts himself off and picks up his beat up schoolbag, slinging it over his shoulder as it dangles off its one good strap hanging over his back. He trudges towards the main building, passing nice beach houses along the way. He's never seen huts like these outside of postcards. They probably belong to some rich fat fucks.

He hits the showers as soon as he finds one, breathing a contented sigh as he scrubs caked on dirt off his skin. That's all he is really, just skin and bone, spending half his nights out on the streets and hardly any time at home, too angry and too uneducated and too stubborn to find a place that'll pay him a few quid an hour to do a simple job, just living on other peoples' handouts.

When he settles down in the cafeteria with a sandwich and a soup on his tray, keeping his bag safe in his lap, he's wearing a clean, oversized band t-shirt and pants that are hanging half off his arse. He's managed to ditch his shoes with holes in them for someone else's pair - that's about the only thing that seems to fit on his lithe frame. He's picked a corner of the cafeteria where he can see everyone and everything happening, and he's got a wary teenage angsty edgelord glare at anyone who dares to encroach on his space.

2. Don't know what I want but I know how to get it.
As soon as John found the arcade his eyes lit up brighter than a Christmas tree and he flitted from one machine to the next, trying his hand at shooting games, throwing balls through holes, driving games, pinball, fighting games, and anything else he could get his hands on. There's no way he's keeping up the disinterested teenage boy act.

He keeps his bag close by at all times, usually gripped between his legs or wedged between his legs and the machines. Even though he's having fun he knows it's short-lived. This is some kind of dream he's going to wake up from any minute now. He has to make the most of it before the clock strikes midnight and the horse drawn carriage turns back into a pumpkin and rats.

So although he's having the time of his life, he's also hoarding tickets. The prizes didn't really suit his needs. He wanted money. Things he could exchange for food. Cigarettes. In the end he gets an oversized stuffed animal and tries to fence it on the network.

( and he's not sure what to make of that, honestly. throughout his long, long life, the night sky has always been a constant. something familiar, reliable.

getting answers from their hosts will be difficult, he's sure — and he is much too old to be taken in by their promises of a solution, their pleas for patience. words are cheap, easily given and just as quickly forgotten when it suits. )

[There are certainly unbelievable things that occur in his own world, but a vast inter-dimensional portal... Well. It's not exactly the norm, even for a man accustomed to people who possess supernatural abilities ranging from the terrifying to the oddly specific.

After stopping off at the quite lackluster temporary lodging Mori has returned to the forest to begin examining the portal. While he certainly has considered the possibility of just... Walking back through, he's not an idiot. If entering it in the first place brought him here there's absolutely not solid evidence that re-entering it would take him back to Yokohama.

Unless he can gather further evidence it would be unwise to act without careful consideration, so it's likely that he'll either stumble upon other new arrivals or a volunteer checking out the anomaly.]

B: Sexatorium
[With the calm and almost scientific way that Mori is watching through the glass of the hastily-established Sexatorium one could mistake him for one of the long-time volunteers. He clearly isn't off-put by the rather involved and heated display going on inside the room he's currently observing, and if anything the man looks almost bemused as he comments to no one in particular:]

Hmm... That seems like it would require considerable flexibility.

[At least he's keeping a certain ability of his restrained for the moment. He does have some class, and it simply wouldn't do to expose Elise to this sort of place.]

C: The Lounge
[This place, while still rather aesthetically different than the norm, is much more to the liking of the boss of the Port Mafia. While he enjoys the sterile sleekness of the other facilities he finds this place less likely to be monitored.

Of course he hasn't necessarily done anything that could get him into trouble yet, it always pays to know when and where to be on your best behavior.

At present he's just people-watching, taking the time to observe those he's found himself thrust into the midst of. Anything could be useful.]

[It takes him a moment to actually believe what he's seeing: His boss, here in Zhautas, in the sexatorium, watching people fuck. The only important part being: he's here. And Chuuya is already headed towards him.

He has to kick down a door to get there. Well, maybe he didn't have to, but he's impatient. He'd seen him from a distance thanks to the glass walls, and the fact that he isn't crashing through those walls shows a huge amount of restraints already. All he leaves behind are a few cracks.]
